AMAZING APPLES!

Here are some amazing apple activities the class participated in this past week.
Here's a pocket chart activity.  This is sung to the tune of Bingo.  This is a class favorite!

These are the apples created from our Apple Glyph.

We practiced ordering numbers from lowest to highest using dice.

The students made 10 apples up on top of their head after listening to the story, 10 Apples Up On Top.  The students picked a number apple and colored the number word on their paper to match.  Next the students cut the apples and glued them in number order.  Then the students added their picture.  Cute!
We learned a song that helped us remember the parts of an apple.  We worked together using stretchy snake (stretching out the sounds in words) and the sounds chart (Heidi Songs) to spell and label the apple parts.  I highly recommend purchasing this chart for your classroom.  We use it all the time!

We practiced recognizing our number words from 1-6.

The students used Apple Jacks cereal to discover combinations of 5.  The students circled the combination they wanted to illustrate on their math mat.

We practice whole and half!

The students made short /a/ words by spinning the letter on the spinners.  They colored the apple next to the 'real' words.

We made an apple man!  Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me!  I'm the apple man.

Apple Adjectives!  The students came up with these words to describe apples using sight, touch, taste, and sound.

The students used the Apple Adjectives Chart as a resource to complete this page in their Apple Discoveries book.

Another page from the Apple Discoveries book.

The students used this tool to peel, slice, and core apples for our Sugar and Spice Apples.

We added brown sugar and cinnamon to the apple slices.  Yummy!

Look at this pile of apple peels from six apples!
Here are some resources I used from other blogs and websites for my Amazing Apple theme:

A cute little book created by Shannon Martin of Kindergarten Hoppenings.
