Brush Your Teeth!

Celebrating Dental Health Month!
Painting Mr. Big Mouth following the directions on the big screen.

Adding 20 teeth - 10 on the top and 10 on the bottom.  We are making Mr. Big Mouth talk, too.

Whoops!  Too many teeth!
Playing Mr. Big Mouth game!  Watch out for the cavity card!

We labeled a tooth.  Couldn't get it to rotate :(

We are observing what happens to the egg shell.  Unfortunately, the dentist who came to visit did this experiment as part of his presentation so we already know the results.  Oh, well...

We will write about our results when we return from our Mardi Gras break.

We ended the week eating apple smiles!  The recipe card can be found at Making Learning Fun.
FREEBIES!!!

SHARING THE LOVE

Here are some pictures from our LOTS OF LOVE PARTY.  What a lovely time!

After reading this book the students gave their guest a valentine.  I forgot to take a picture of the valentine, but it accompanies the book.  It was a rabbit made out of hearts.  It was adorable!
Making words from the word VALENTINES.

Decorating heart shaped cakes together.

Time to share the sweet treat with our guest!
Pocket chart to review number words and making addition number sentences.

This pocket chart introduces the students to using commas.

Sharing the love is not over in our class!  We will continue sending valentines to our friends in the classroom.  After everyone receives a valentine from all their classroom buddies, we will begin writing notes to each other.  The leader of the day distributes the notes.  This activity is great for handwriting practice, writing sentences, reading, and of course encourages being kind to one another.  I always begin this activity after Valentine's Day and it continues to the end of the school year.  It's a classroom favorite!

Here are some of the valentines we are sending to our friends.  These came from Making Learning Fun.  Sorry about the picture...still having trouble rotating pictures taken from my iphone.

Here are some of my students' writing responses to our LOTS OF LOVE party.  We brainstorm and list words we might use in our LOTS OF LOVE writing that can't be found using our resources (alphabet chart, vowel chart, sounds chart, word wall).  They did an awesome job!

Here's a freebie you can use for next year!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

We've been busy getting ready for our LOTS OF LOVE party.
We made L-O-V-E mobiles!

Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me!  I'm the valentine man.

Each student made their valentine man say something nice.

We made these adorable hearts for our February quilt.

We made valentine flowers from coffee filters!  These flowers will be the centerpieces for our LOTS OF LOVE party.

Look at our lovely personalized table decorations!  This is Tad's (our class mascot).  Too cute!

PENGUIN FUN!

To end our study of polar animals, we had a PENGUIN PARTY!
Iceberg hopping!

Tacky the Penguin Tobogganing Race!

Carrying penguin eggs (bean bags)

We wrote these facts using our penguin tree map.

We followed directions to draw a penguin.

We discovered what happens to Polly Penguin when she gets wet.

We made Macaroni penguin masks!  This idea came from Making Learning Fun.

We made a Penguin Treat!  We ate some fish crackers, too.
We had lots of fun at the rookery!

MARVELOUS MATH

We completed our Zero the Hero Number Book!
Every 10 days we added the next set of numbers.  The students cut the the numbers apart and put them in order.
We are practicing place value!
Each student picks a number, then builds the number using unifix cubes.
