A FRIGHTFULLY FUN TIME!

We celebrated Halloween on Friday!
Take a look at the frightfully fun time we had!

We mixed up some WITCH'S BREW!
We played Toss & Tally!

The students made Boo! symmetrical necklaces.  I wish I had a picture of a finished necklace.  They did a great job designing symmetrical patterns!

We tossed eyeballs!

We played Roll a Jack-O-Lantern!

Boo Bowling was fun!

We made a spooky spider snack.  Yummy!!!
We made spooky candy houses!
I gave each child this wonderful story of a square pumpkin.
I gave each student a cute and yummy monster, too!

SOME PUMPKIN FUN!

Take a look at some of our pumpkin fun from my PLENTY OF PUMPKINS thematic unit.
We turned our pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns.  Each student went shape shopping to design their Jack-O's face.  Each one is different!
This is one of the non-fiction pumpkin books I read.
The students make a pumpkin circle necklace for retelling the life cycle of a pumpkin.

Here's our class pumpkin, Jack-O!

Here's Jack-O after we carved his face.  Sorry about the picture but I couldn't get it to rotate.

I used the document camera and we worked together discussing the steps of carving a pumpkin.  The students used the Sounds Chart and Stretchy Snake to write the words.

Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me!  I'm the pumpkin man.

We made pumpkin books!

Jack-O is stuffed with treats!

This is the back side of Jack-O.  Each student counted the shapes used.

We celebrated the 50th day of school!  Here's our Zero the Hero book page.  The zero is in costume!

MONSTER MUD!

The class enjoyed  MONSTER MUD!  The student's discovered how this concoction can be grabbed like a solid and then oozes out of your hand like a liquid.
We record our discoveries using the form found in my

WILD WEST RODEO

We took a break from Halloween activities to enjoy some wild west fun!
The students made stick horses using a sock stuffed with plastic grocery bags.

We made cowboys and cowgirls.  We discovered that cowboy and cowgirl are compound words!
The students made their cowboy and cowgirl talk.  Take a look at the red hot chili pepper boots.  They are symmetrical!  We made these boots after reading Jan Brett's Armadillo Rodeo.  Yeehaw!!!

The horses are taking a break to munch on some leaves.
We are off to enjoy more WILD WEST activities!

We labeled a cowboy.  I used my document camera.  We  named the parts of the cowboy and worked together using STRETCHY SNAKE  to hear the sounds in the words.
