Native Americans & Other Stuff

This week we learned about Native Americans.   We are having fun learning our Native American names...mine is Chief Big Foot!  We will call each other by our names for the month of November.  The students are earning feathers just like some Native Americans.  We learned how to play Stick Dice, a Native American game.

The students are learning to work together and take turns.
We worked on our critical thinking skills with this math activity.  The students had to figure out how many triangles, squares, trapezoids, and hexagons they could make using a certain number of popsicle sticks.

The students drew and wrote about how they would carve Jack-O.

The students wrote and illustrated how to carve a pumpkin using this form.

We are writing about our pumpkin discoveries!

The students and their guests are enjoying quality time together on Halloween.

We read scarecrow stories and planted a pattern.

We made these cute bears using small, medium, and large circles.  We cut the medium circle in half to make ears.

For cooking, we made bear biscuits.  Yummy!

We read lots of fiction and non-fiction books about bears then we compared bears using a Venn diagram.

We are practicing our tallying!
