MATH WORK STATIONS - CHAPTER 8: Measurement

Introducing young children to measurement can be challenging, but lots of fun, too! I like to do lots of various measuring and estimating activities all year long.  The students love these activities because of the variety of objects and the different ways to measure.  Here are a few ideas:

 Using links to measure the circumference of a small pumpkin.

 Measuring the circumference of the class pumpkin.  

(Sorry about the picture, but I couldn't get it to rotate)

 Using a ruler to measure the hair for our triangle witch project.

 Using a scale to measure the weight of a potato.  

What's heavier?  What's lighter?

Using tiles to measure the length of a snake.
